Sanyo Electric Company Limited, better known as simply Sanyo, is one of the most popular electronic company in the world. It is one of the major company in Japan and has the honor of being a Fortune 500 company in the world. The headquarter of Sanyo is in Moriguchi, Oasaka prefecture, in Japan. There are 324 offices of Sanyo in Japan and various plants spread worldwide. The total strength of employees in Sanyo are about 14,000.
History of Sanyo: The company was founded by Toshio Lue in the year 1947, who was the brother-in-law of Kono suke Matasushita. The word Sanyo means “three oceans” in Japanese. The word signifies the far reaching goals of the founder of the company. The founder wanted to spread their products in all parts of the world, beyond all seas. However, Sanyo has truly reached beyond Atlantic, Indian and also the Pacific oceans.
In the beginning, Sanyo manufactured bicycle lamps, but in the year 1952 Sanyo produced its first plastic radio, which was the first to be produced in the country. In 1954, Sanyo manufactured Japan's first washing machine of pulsator type.

Growth of Sanyo: With the passing of time Sanyo emerged as one of the main electrical company in the country. Sanyo tied hands with other major electrical company in Japan like, Sony. Sanyo has a huge market in the United States it had the honor of being the company with best selling video recorder in United Kingdom till 1983.
In North America, Sanyo manufactures CDMA cellphones, only for Sprint-Nextel Corporation. For three years continuously, Sanyo was honored with the prestigious L.D. Power and Associates award. In the year 2005 , Sanyo came together with LG, another major electronic company in the world. Unfortunately, in the year 2006, a huge loss was incurred by Sanyo as a result of which, the number of employees had to be curtailed.
