Bulbs |
Your home is incomplete without bulbs. The bulb is the most common form of lighting up your house. The term “bulb” refers to incandescent light bulb, which is an artificial light. This artificial light lights up your home after dark and bring on real cheer to the looks of your house.
Bulbs are incandescent lamps, which works by incandescence. In a bulb through a thin filament, electric current passes, thus heating it up and then the bulb produces light. A glass bulb encloses the filament and thus prevents oxygen from entering and reaching the heated filament as oxygen causes oxidation leading to rapid destruction of the filament.
Bulbs are also termed as “electric lamps.” According to some the credit of invention of light bulbs goes to Theadore Rellor. However, Edison is noted as the inventor of light bulb.
The range of voltages and sizes of incandescent bulbs is wide. From low to high voltage you can get bulbs of every type. The manufacturing costs of bulbs are low and bulbs do not require any external regulating material. So, the usage of incandescent bulbs are wide in range too, like commercial lighting, household lighting, advertisement lighting, decorative lighting, electric flashlights, car headlamps, table lamps and other forms of lighting.

Light bulbs are presented according to the consumption of electrical power. This consumption ratio is measured in watts and depends on the resistance of the filament mainly. The resistance of the filament depends on the material, thickness and length of the material. Bulbs are available in different shapes like a globs, decorative, teardrop, flame and other shapes. Different types of light bulbs are spot types and flood types. The first one concentrates the light and the second type spread light.
Several companies manufacture incandescent bulbs. There are some big international names as well as regional manufacturers of light bulbs.
