The basic usage of washing machines is perhaps known to all and if you have one in the house, you will definitely be more familiar with its use and advantages. Washing machines are completely made for the purpose of cleaning of clothing, bed-sheets, curtains and other elements that comprise the term ‘laundry’. But very few of you will know the details of washing machines, that is, their mechanisms, types, uses and more. They are run by electricity but the mechanism involves three different types of energies – thermal, mechanical and chemical. As the agitator inside the machines rotate, mechanical energies are created and passed on to the heap of clothes. Gradually the temperature of wash bath increase as well and this in turn produces heat or thermal power. But what role does chemical energy or chemical action plays in the entire process? The use of water, which is done away with in dry cleaning, along with the detergents you mix in come together to work upon the dirt and stains to give clean clothes, curtains and sheets.
