Appliances refer to all those things that have got application. We use different types of appliances every day for different purposes. Each and every appliance that we use has got certain utility, ability and off course application. We take the help of different types of appliances for making things easier. Thanks to the regular progress of science and technology, we are getting advanced appliances day by day that are making life very easy for us. Wide variety of appliances are available in the markets. We use some of those for out household needs, some for office use and some for entertainment and recreational activities.
Speaking about types of appliances it has to be mentioned that primarily appliances are of two types, electrical appliances and electronic appliances. Devices that are run by electricity are known as electrical appliances and those which are operated by battery are called electronic appliances or gadgets. Apart from that appliances can also be categorized in some other ways. Camera, television, radio, computer may be said to be audio visual appliances.

Speaking about types of appliances it may also be must also be mentioned that some devices fall under the category of portable types of appliances. Camera, radio, television set, DVD player, micro wave oven are some examples of such types of appliances. On the other hand, appliances like air conditioner, refrigerator and washing machine are bigger in size and are thus difficult to move. Types of appliances that are smaller in size and are easily movable are called brown goods and the bigger devices are known as white goods.
